On December 5, 2022, Rev. Dom Boniface von Nell, O.S.B. of St. Anselm’s Abbey, Washington, DC died in the Lord after a period of declining health and strengthened with the sacraments.

He was a member of our monastic community for 37 years, during which he served in many capacities, including times as librarian, sacristan, guest master, novice master, and director of oblates. He was also a skilled spiritual director and a gifted iconographer.

The Reception of the Body will be on Friday, December 9, at 4 p.m. and visitation will be available in the Abbey Church until 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Abbey Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, after which he will be laid to rest in our Abbey cemetery.  The Funeral Mass will be streamed to our Facebook page and YouTube Channel for those unable to attend in person.
