On Oblate Sunday, first of the month, concurrent this year with the feast of the Ascension of Jesus, our oblate Treecommunity held a ceremony in honor of Abbot Aidan Shea (retired) for his many years of dedicated service to them. In his honor the oblates arranged for a pin oak tree to be planted in the south lawn. After conventual Mass, the congregation gathered around the tree with Abbot Aidan for some remembrances from oblates Bill Kelly and Molly Pyle, and a blessing of the tree by Fr. Boniface, Abbot Aidan’s successor as Oblate Director. At the end of the ceremony all retired to the monastery calefactory for some refreshments and fellowship.
