The third annual Peter Samp ’08 Memorial 5K Race took place on the cross country trail around the Abbey and School woods and fields on this cool spring-like Saturday morning. About 160 men, women and children signed up to participate as runners or walkers on the challenging course; 108 finished all the laps. Among those who finished were four monks: Abbot James, Br. Ignacio, Br. Samuel and Fr. Christopher. The first three each won the third place medal in their individual age cohorts: 60-and-above, 40-49, and 30-39, respectively. Fr. Christopher was content that he was able to complete the full course in about 37 minutes. The Alumni Association, the Samp Family, some businesses, alumni families, current parents and faculty sponsored the race and the associated activities of the day. There were inflated slides and games for children and a barbeque lunch prepared by Alumni Association members. Proceeds from the event go to the Peter Samp Scholarship Fund.
