March 8-10, 2013
The Abbot and community welcomed three participants for the Come & See program this weekend. Daniel McHugh, drove up from his home in Raleigh, N.C. Daniel has his Masters degree in European History from Providence College in R.I. Mario Payne walked over from the Gift of Peace nearby, where he is presently a live-in volunteer with the Missionaries of Charity in their care for the poor and sick. Mario is retired from a career of working with mentally retarded and emotionally disturbed children. Joel Ranadive arrived here by train from Towson/Baltimore, Md. Joel is a senior at Goucher College in Towson, studying for a BA in History.
During the weekend program they sat with the monks in choir for prayer offices and Mass, attended conferences given by the monks on monastic and religious topics, and joined the novices in Saturday afternoon manual labor. We thank them for taking the time to explore the possibility of a monastic vocation and trust they will continue to be open to the possibility of a call to consecrated life of service to the Church and for the glory of God.
