After the evening meal in the refectory, Mr. Matthew Ouimet, Prior of the St. Anselm’s Abbey Oblates, presented Fr. Simon with a token of appreciation from the oblates – a picture of the old abbey building, which Fr. Simon was the first to refer to it as the Tudor house. The oblates thanked Fr. Simon for his support and interest in their activities, spiritual growth and contributions to the life of the monastic community. The engraved tribute attached to the picture read:

Very Rev. Dom Simon McGurk, O.S.B.
Prior Administrator of St. Anselm’s Abbey
2006 - 2011
with fair winds and following seas, we send you home;
but we forever hold a treasure
of the Benedictine teachings and example you have given us.
